Sheffield United to beat Reading
Sheffield United responded to their capitulation in a 3-3 draw at Aston Villa by beating Middlesbrough 1-0 at Bramall Lane in midweek.
That was the Blades’ fifth straight home victory in the Championship, keeping them third in the table.
They should easily beat a Reading side with just one away win and 11 points from 16 matches on the road this season.
Barnsley to beat Wycombe
Barnsley stayed top of the League One form table with a 4-1 victory away to Gillingham last weekend.
The Tykes have dropped just six points in 11 unbeaten matches, drawing with promotion rivals Portsmouth and Luton, as well as in-form Oxford.
They shouldn’t have any trouble against a Wycombe side that lost 3-0 at Luton in their last match and have won just two of their last 14 away games.
Luton to beat Fleetwood
At odds against, I’ve got to include Luton in this coupon. Again.
The Hatters romped to a 3-0 victory over Wycombe last weekend, maintaining their six-point lead at the top of League One. That was their 19th league game without defeat and fifth straight victory.
Fleetwood have lost three of their last five matches at Highbury, with their only victory in that spell coming against a depleted Charlton side.
Scunthorpe to beat Gillingham
Gillingham were hammered 4-1 at home to Barnsley last weekend, conceding a season-high xG of 4.2 in the game (experimental361).
That was a fourth league game without victory for Steve Lovell’s side, who also lost captain Gabriel Zakuani for the rest of the season to an ankle injury.
The Gills had previously been held to a 0-0 draw by out-of-form Accrington and lost 3-0 to strugglers Walsall in their previous two matches at Priestfield.
They welcome a Scunthorpe side that has won six of their last eight league games on Saturday and, at this price, I’m all over an away victory.
Grimsby to beat Cheltenham
Cheltenham were beaten 3-0 at Colchester last weekend without having a single shot on goal, and have now lost three straight away games.
The Robins’ only victory in their last eight matches on the road came against fourth-bottom Yeovil (who have now lost five straight games).
Grimsby have won all of their last three matches, including back-to-back victories over promotion chasers MK Dons and FA Cup headline-makers Newport at Blundell Park.
