Here are five football tips Adam Drury thinks you should consider for Tranmere v Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
Under 2.5 goals
Tranmere’s pitch is dreadful, and won’t have improved in the three days between Thursday’s third-round victory over Watford and this game.
It is difficult to imagine any team playing slick football on it. Should Tranmere perform as well as they did across their two matches against the Hornets, they should be able to hold Manchester United at arm’s length.
First half correct score: 0-0
This is an extension of the under 2.5 goals bet.
Tranmere will defend with lots of bodies behind the ball, and should prevent United from creating too many opportunities before they tire in the second half.
Connor Jennings to be carded
Jennings has picked up seven yellows and one red this season, including a booking in both games against Watford.
He ranks top four fouls per game of Tranmere’s likely starters.
Jesse Lingard to be carded
Lingard has received five yellow cards this season, including two in his last five appearances.
He ranks fourth for fouls per game in the United squad.
Under 10.5 corners
Manchester United haven’t won more than five corners in any of their last six away games, and will struggle to do much better on this surface.
They should dominate possession, though, which will prevent Tranmere from posting too many at the other end.
