Europa League Qualifying: Hammers to squeeze through

A look at four sides, including West Ham, who could have goals galore in their sights.

The Europa League qualifiers seem like they’ve been going on for an age already but one more round will be completed on Thursday night. England’s representatives West Ham look in the driving seat to qualify but found it tough last time out against Birkirkara and they might be even warier out in Malta. Here’s a four-fold on both teams to score for the Europa League this week:

Birkirkara vs West Ham United both teams to score – 9/10

The Hammers really made it tough going at the Boleyn Ground, stealing a goal in the last minute to take a 1-0 lead against Birkirkara. It was a surprisingly tight affair, given the gulf in class but the Maltese side didn’t lie down and they’d like to really test Slaven Bilic’s men at home.

It’s not outside the realm of possibility for Bikirkara to nick a goal and make West Ham sweat a little, back this at a decent price as it’s unlikely that West Ham won’t find a goal from somewhere again themselves to seal the tie.

Aberdeen vs HNK Rikeka both teams to score – 13/20

What a superb effort from Aberdeen out in Croatia in the first leg, gaining a healthy 3-0 lead that surely sees them through. It’ll be a great atmosphere at the Pitodrie tonight but it’s also going to be a pretty relaxed outing, giving Rikeka the chance to strike.

The Scottish side aren’t exactly home and dry and expect them to sit off the Croats a little before maybe adding to their advantage should Rikeka build a head of steam. Despite the tie practically being won in the first leg, it always tends to create a fairly goal-heavy second encounter.

Astra Giurgiu vs Inverness both teams to score – 11/10

Inverness were disappointed in their first foray into European football, having lost 1-0 to Romanian side Astra Giurgiu but there’s certainly hope that they can still progress. John Hughes is confident in his young side and a goal early on will really make this one interesting.

Astra will know that just one goal won’t be enough to kill off the Thisles and Inverness will be desperate to continue their European adventure, so expect a thrilling affair that sees lots of goal-mouth action.

PAOK vs Lokomotiva Zagreb both teams to score – 19/20

Greek side PAOK found it tough going in Zagreb last time out, losing to Lokomotiva 2-1 but will head back home believing that qualifying is in their grasp. Managed by former Croatia and Juventus hard-man Igor Tudor, the white-blacks know that their away goal is invaluable to them in this encounter.

However, Lokomotiva have troubled them before and they themselves will fancy getting a goal that would really apply some pressure, this could be a really tense game and both side will be looking to score early.

£10 on the 4-fold accumulator pays £128.37
