Here are five picks Adam Drury thinks you should consider for Liverpool v Manchester City, which kicks off at 15:00 on Sunday.

Manchester City to win

Man City cruised to Community Shield victory against Chelsea last August, and a similar result is in the offing here.

Naby Keita and Mo Salah have only just returned to training after playing in the AFCON, while Sadio Mane is still on his holidays. Liverpool’s preparation has not been good enough to beat City.

Anytime score: Liverpool 0-1 Man City

Considering that they are fancied to win, these look good odds on City simply taking the lead.

They have scored first in 15 of their last 17 matches, and did so against Liverpool at the Etihad in January.

Kevin de Bruyne to score

De Bruyne ended last season with a flourish, scoring off the bench in City’s FA Cup final victory.

The Belgian has been in top form during pre-season, and can kick off what should be a big season with a goal here.

Under 2.5 cards

There were no cards in City’s win against Chelsea 12 months ago, the third Community Shield in five that has come in under this mark.

This game is unlikely to break that sequence, with Liverpool in particularly not going to be at full throttle.

Georginio Wijnaldum to be carded

Wijnaldum is one of few candidates for a booking, though.

The Dutchman was carded six times for club and country last season: twice against City, once against PSG and Manchester United, and once against France and Germany.
