Champions League tips: Best bets for Arsenal v Bayern

Adrian Mills' best bets for Tuesday night's clash at the Emirates include a win for the Gunners with an in-form German star finding the net once again.

Arsenal’s last three meetings with Bayern Munich have resulted in humiliating 5-1 defeats, but the Gunners should have a much better chance of coming away with something this season as they host the German giants for the first leg of this Champions League quarter-final.

Die Bayern are on the verge of losing the Bundesliga title for the first time in over a decade and their recent results suggest their season may get even worse when they face an in-form Arsenal outfit.

Arsenal set to shine

Arsenal beat Brighton 3-0 at the weekend to go top of the Premier League table and they have now won 11 of their last 13 games in all competitions, with their only defeat in this period coming in the first leg of their last Champions League tie with FC Porto.

All six of their home matches in this period have ended in victory and they have scored 17 goals in this run, while Bayern are reeling after another shock defeat on Saturday.

The soon-to-be dethroned Bundesliga champions lost 3-2 at Heidenheim to make it two successive defeats, while they have managed just one win and four defeats from their last six away games in all competitions.

Die Bayern have shipped 14 goals in these six recent away days, making a home win look a likelihood on Tuesday.

Kane to keep Bayern in the tie

Harry Kane’s quest for silverware could be about to end in tears yet again, but the former Tottenham man has done his part since signing for Bayern in August.

Kane has scored 32 Bundesliga goals and six Champions League goals in just 36 appearances, and the 30-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down.

His goal at Heidenheim on Saturday was his seventh in his last five appearances and he has a fantastic record against his old club’s arch rivals, notching 14 times in 19 meetings with the Gunners.

Havertz to contribute to thriller

Arsenal may be in top form, but they have conceded in three of their last five at home and keeping Bayern at bay may prove a step too far.

The visitors have scored 24 goals across their last eight games in all competitions. This illustrates that the bulk of their problems lie at the back and Arsenal forward Kai Havertz could take advantage of that.

The Germany international scored and assisted at Brighton on Saturday and has really started to shine after a difficult start to life at Arsenal.

He has found the net in five of his last nine appearances and has previous experience against Bayern, including a goal against them in the DFB-Pokal final in one of his last appearances for Bayer Leverkusen.
