Swansea v Hull: Bersant Celina

Hull conceded at least twice in nine of their last 11 away games of last season, so back Swansea to score first.

Celina – who scored eight goals last season – is the obvious pick.

The Kosovan international ranked second to Dan James for shots in the Swans’ squad last season, so he can fill the goalscoring void left by James and Oli McBurnie.

Adam Drury

Wigan v Cardiff: Joe Garner

Wigan kept a clean sheet in five of their final eight matches at the DW Stadium last season, so it’s worth backing them over a side whose main striker has recently left for West Brom.

Garner netted eight goals to finish level with Nick Powell as Wigan’s top scorer last season.

He scored the only goal in the final game of the season against Millwall, and also opened the scoring with his penultimate goal at home against Bolton in March.

Will Rook

Nottingham Forest v West Brom: Lewis Grabban

Forest scored the first goal in 25 of their Championship games last season, the most of any side other than Sheffield United, Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday.

They opened the scoring in both of their meetings with West Brom and should do so again on Saturday evening.

Grabban is Forest’s first-choice striker up front and bagged 16 Championship goals last season.

Jack Green

Bristol City v Leeds: Patrick Bamford

Bristol conceded first in seven of their final 10 home games in the Championship last season, and have lost their two pre-season matches at Ashton Gate by an aggregate of 7-1.

Leeds, meanwhile, had the fourth-best away record last term and have looked strong in pre-season, so I’m backing a Whites player here.

Bamford is virtually guaranteed a start with Kemar Roofe injured, and scored the winner here last season in a 1-0 victory.
