To help you make your picks, our writers reveal who they think will break the deadlock in the Champions League final and MLS this weekend.
Tottenham v Liverpool: Sadio Mane
Liverpool have opened the scoring in four of their last five Champions League matches, and also scored first in both of their previous matches against Tottenham this season.
Mane has been in superb form all season for the Reds, scoring 26 goals in all competitions, including four in Europe.
The Senegalese also knows what it’s like to score on this occasion, having netted Liverpool’s only goal against Real Madrid in last year’s final.
Montreal Impact v Orlando City: Nani
Nani has scored seven goals in his last seven matches for Orlando and looks the best bet to open the scoring in Montreal.
The Portuguese has opened the scoring twice during that run.
The Impact, meanwhile, have drawn blanks in both of their last two home games.
Atlanta United v Chicago Fire: Julian Gressel
Atlanta have won their last three games at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium to nil, so you’re better off choosing a home player.
Josef Martinez is United’s main man, though his last four goals have all come on the road.
Gressel has two in his last three on home turf and will be a much less popular pick.
DC United v San Jose Earthquakes: Wayne Rooney
DC United have won the last two meetings between these sides 4-0 and 3-1, so it’s worth backing one of their players to break the deadlock here.
Rooney is the obvious choice, having scored a late equaliser against New England last Sunday, a week after netting the opener against Houston.
The former England captain has nscored eight goals in 14 games this season and is on duty for all of his side’s set pieces.
