5 Premier League picks: A win for one Manchester club, but the other to drop points

Elsewhere, Sam Allardyce is set for a turgid Sunderland debut, while strugglers Chelsea and Aston Villa meet at Stamford Bridge

11/5 – Everton to beat Manchester United

Everton having not lost in five games – a run which also includes a win over Chelsea and a draw against Liverpool.

The Toffees also have a fantastic recent record against Manchester United, winning four and drawing one of their last seven encounters.

The last four meetings between the two sides, meanwhile, have an aggregate score of 7-2 to Roberto Martinez’s side.

United were comprehensively beaten at Arsenal last time out and will struggle to respond with a win at Goodison Park.

1/3 – Chelsea to beat Aston Villa

Chelsea are struggling badly, but not as much as Aston Villa, who have lost six and drawn one of their last seven.

The Blues have won six of their last seven against Villa and, with Diego Costa returning from suspension, they will be able to outscore an opposition that has just eight goals in eight Premier League games.

It might be an edgy afternoon at Stamford Bridge, but the home side should come through.

1/3 – Man City to beat Bournemouth

Manchester City are struggling with injuries – Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Aleksandar Kolorov are definitely out, while Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri are doubtful.

City have impressive strength in depth, though, and Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Wilfried Bony should get them past Bournemouth.

The Cherries have been blunted by the loss of Callum Wilson and won’t have enough to threaten the league leaders.

23/10 – West Brom v Sunderland to draw

West Brom are the joint-lowest scorers in the Premier League with six goals in eight games, while Sunderland are not far ahead of them with eight.

Sam Allardyce should improve the Black Cats, but he will most likely sure up the defence before improving the attack.

The last meeting between these two sides ended 0-0 and a repeat result would not be a surprise.

4/7 – Arsenal to beat Watford

Two successive Premier League victories have propelled Arsenal up the table.

The 5-2 at Leicester improved their forwards’ confidence, while the 3-0 defeat of Manchester United should give them title-winning belief.

Watford have impressed so far this season, but six goals in eight games is not enough to worry Arsene Wenger’s men, who will outscore the home side.
