5 Champions League picks: Dinamo Zagreb to extend unbeaten run against Olympiacos

Bayer Leverkusen, Porto, Chelsea and Zenit should also seal victories as the halfway point of UEFA's elite club competition is reached

13/8 – Dinamo Zagreb to beat Olympiacos

Dinamo Zagreb take on Olympiacos on Tuesday with both attempting to defy expectations by progressing out of Group F.

Both have beaten Arsenal already and are tied on three points behind Bayern Munich on six.

The two sides boast excellent domestic form, topping the Croatian and Greek leagues respectively, but it is Zagreb who look in the better position here.

They are aiming to extend an incredible 30-game unbeaten run at home and have won their last six on the bounce in front of their own fans.

19/20 – Bayer Leverkusen to beat Roma

Bayer Leverkusen host AS Roma in a key Group E clash and it is the German side that are poised for victory.

The Italians’ worrying Champions League form makes it difficult to see them claiming the three points.

They haven’t won in Europe’s elite competition in their last seven, while their last away win was in 2010.

Leverkusen, meanwhile, have won six of their last seven home Champions League games and are rightly favourites to earn another victory here.

1/6 – Porto to beat Maccabi Tel Aviv

FC Porto may have very short odds for Tuesday’s game with Maccabi Tel Aviv – and for good reason.

The Portuguese side have won their last five at home – conceding just once – and have only failed to win in one of their last 21 matches at the Estadio do Dragao.

Maccabi, meanwhile, have lost three of their last five away games in the Champions League and were beaten 4-0 by Chelsea in their only road game in the competition so far this term.

7/4 – Chelsea to beat Dynamo Kiev

Chelsea’s troubles are well documented, but there squad should be performing much better than it is.

Kiev have not won in their last three Champions League home games, while Chelsea have lost only one of their last six away in Europe.

That was at Porto last time out, but their 2-0 win against Aston Villa on Saturday should be enough of a confidence boost for to inspire Jose Mourinho’s side to collect three points here.

10/11 – Zenit St Petersburg to beat Lyon

Zenit are attempting to maintain their 100 per cent record in Group H after defeating Valencia and Gent and shouldn’t encounter too much trouble against Lyon.

The French outfit have only won one of their last four in all competitions and could only muster a 1-1 draw at Gent in their only away game so far this term.

The Russians, meanwhile, have triumphed in four of their last six Champions League home games.

That should become five in seven by the end of Tuesday night.
