World Championship darts tips for Saturday evening session

Toni Alcinas to win and hit the most 180s

Toni Alcinas made it to the third round last year, beating compatriot Cristo Reyes and Kevin Munch, who had already knocked out two-time champ Adrian Lewis.

He memorably hit eight maximums in that second match, and should have too much for an opponent playing in his very first televised match.

Ryan Searle to hit the highest checkout

This is a tricky game to call between two players who enjoyed a promising Players Championship Finals last month.

Burton went further in the tournament, though Searle did show an impressive knack for three-figure finishes, with three in two matches.

He should manage to land a higher checkout than Burton, who only once managed to take out more than 66 in 16 legs in Minehead.

Keegan Brown to win and hit the highest checkout

Brown enjoyed a decent run to the third round at the Worlds last year, and has reached the last 32 and beyond at plenty of tournaments in the 12 months since.

This feels like a similar match-up to that between Chris Dobey and Boris Koltsov on Friday, where the outsider is unlikely to get many chances to win a leg, so this feels like a solid enough shout.

Michael van Gerwen to beat Alan Tabern 3-0

Both Rob Cross and Gary Anderson dropped a set in their first appearance on the Ally Pally stage, but then that was against opponents who had waltzed through their first-round matches 3-0.

Tabern made hard work of his, going the distance with Raymond Smith despite the Australian only averaging 86.

With that in mind, it’s hard to see him laying a glove on MVG.
