Betway Premier League Week 3: Liverpool Echo Arena

Betway Premier League Darts Arena Preview. The Echo Arena

Echo Arena – Liverpool
Capacity: 12,000
Week 3
Thursday 19 February

Week Three. Three times the atmosphere. Three times the fun. The Echo Arena will hope to capture the same explosive scenes as last season, when it was the location for opening night. Located on the former King’s Dock, it was built to celebrate Liverpool being voted European Capital of Culture in 2008 and has kept up the same high standards ever since. Merseyside home favourites Dave Chisnall and Stephen Bunting are sure to get a rousing reception, and they’ll need all the crowd help they can get as Chizzy takes on James Wade and The Bullet faces Phil Taylor. Will there be wonders by the waterside? Let’s. Play. Darts.

Betway Premier League Rewind: Last year in Liverpool…

Week 1 Thursday 6 February 2014

Last year, Liverpool started the season off with a real bang on opening night. Although Phil Taylor would be plagued by a lack of form throughout the early part of the season, it would never be as bad as the 7-0 whitewash by close rival Michael van Gerwen. It remains his heaviest ever Premier League defeat. New darts and missed doubles were the tale of the tape, but with an average of just under 110, MVG was ruthless.

Meanwhile, Adrian Lewis took the record for highest checkout of the night at 130 on his way to trouncing Aussie Simon Whitlock 7-1 and Barney started strong with a 7-2 victory over Gary Anderson. It was a mixed night for the other Scotsmen in the League though, as Peter Wright won 7-3 over Wes Newton, but Robert Thornton lost to Dave ‘Chizzy’ Chisnall 7-5.

Full results:

Dave Chisnall 7-5 Robert Thornton
Peter Wright 7-3 Wes Newton
Raymond van Barneveld 7-2 Gary ANderson
Phil Taylor 0-7 Michael van Gerwen
Simon Whitlock 1-7 Adrian Lewis
