Top four looking for momentum ahead of finals night
Brighton will be hosting the calm before the storm in the Betway Premier League as the final week of action before the play-offs takes place on Thursday.
The four combatants in finals night are decided but it is crucial to go in with some momentum and three of those four men should do so.
One of those is Michael van Gerwen who just needs a draw against Dave Chisnall to finish top of the table for a third straight year; he should go one better than that and take two points.
Chizzy has been fantastic this campaign and will deservedly take his place in the final four, he tends to struggle against MVG though. The Dutchman is on a nine-match winning streak against the man from St Helens and is comfortably ahead 16-5 in the head-to-head record.
We can expect three-figure averages from both and a fantastic match but Mighty Mike is worth backing at 4/7.
Next on will be Gary Anderson and Adrian Lewis in a repeat of their classic 2011 World Championship final.
Lewis is coming off a cracking win over MVG but Anderson also triumphed last week against Phil Taylor, causing the Power’s campaign to come to an end before the play-offs for the first time ever.
Like the first game of the night this should be of tremendous quality, but this one also has a very one-sided recent head-to-head record. Lewis has won just one of his last nine meetings with the world champ and got smashed 7-1 when they met earlier in this competition.
With this in mind and coming off a great performance last week, the Flying Scotsman is the man to back at 11/10.
Raymond van Barneveld will have a chance to defend his Betway Premier League title on finals night and he should build momentum with victory over Stephen Bunting on Thursday. These two have met three times on the PDC circuit and Barney has won all of them.
The Dutchman may have lost his winning streak in this tournament last week but his draw with James Wade takes him to seven games unbeaten.
With just three wins from 15 games, Bunting does not look like the man to end that run.
RVB is an absolute must at 5/6.
The final match of the night is the only one not featuring a semi-finalist as Phil Taylor faces James Wade and it could be the one surprise result.
Both men will be terribly disappointed with their campaigns this year and will be keen for a win in their final match to finish as high as they can in the table.
Unfortunately for both they could both miss out on that with this ending in a draw. Wade has been the draw specialist in the Betway Premier League this year with six; more than anyone else.
The Machine has often struggled against the Power, as most do, but he has won two of his last three and his defeat earlier in this competition was a close one.
These two have had five draws in Betway Premier League history and another looks good value here at 7/2.
Michael van Gerwen to win @ 4/7
