5/4 – Match winner, most 180s and highest checkout: Michael van Gerwen
Michael van Gerwen takes on Adrian Lewis in the first play-off with the world number one set to reach his fourth consecutive Betway Premier League final.
Mighty Mike has been the stand-out performer in the tournament so far, topping the table by four points after winning his last four in a row.
These included big wins over Phil Taylor, James Wade and, crucially, Adrian Lewis who he meets again on Thursday.
Jackpot has been consistent throughout the tournament – maintaining fourth spot for six of the last eight weeks – but has failed to compete with the three men above him.
The two-time world champion has already lost to MVG in each of their previous meetings during the season, and there is little to suggest he can turn the tide this time around.
The Dutchman’s price of 2/11 offers little value, but backing him to score the most 180s and register the highest checkout in doing so is an appealing alternative.
Usually a prolific maximum-hitter, Lewis has been off-form in that respect this season – only bagging 38 compared to Van Gerwen’s 62.
Mighty Mike also has a penchant for audacious check-outs and is the only player to hit a 170 during the tournament, so is certainly worth backing on all three fronts.
4/5 – Phil Taylor to beat Gary Anderson
Gary Anderson has won the last two World Championships back-to-back as well as the 2015 Betway Premier League, but it is Phil Taylor who should be backed in the second semi-final on Thursday.
Many would have you believe that the Power is a spent force, but Taylor has been superb during this campaign.
After a shock defeat in the opening week he has been excellent throughout, not slipping outside of the top two since week give.
Few have been able to deal with the six-time Premier League champion, including Anderson who has been swatted aside relatively easily in both of their meetings.
The Flying Scotsman has managed to reach the semi-finals with ease despite not being at his best for most of the event.
However, his performances have simply been too up and down – proven by the fact that he has only won half of his games.
Taylor has won seven of the last nine meetings between the two and looks to be in the better form, so although Anderson will no doubt make it difficult, it is the Power who holds all of the advantages.
4/7 – Michael van Gerwen to win the 2016 Betway Premier League
Should the semis go as predicted, then we will be in for another cracking final between world number one Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor, the most successful player in the history of the spot.
The Dutchman does, however, look to have the Power’s number on the big stage having beaten him for the fifth time in six meetings last week and letting a 5-1 lead slip in their earlier encounter in the competition.
Theirs is a rivalry for the ages with their tussle for superiority providing absorbing viewing throughout – but expect Mighty Mike to prevail in another epic at the O2 similar to their 2013 final.
