Betway Premier League night 13 picks: Flying Scotsman to steam home in Birmingham

1/2 – Phil Taylor to beat Peter Wright

Peter Wright has struggled to pick up results of late and Phil Taylor will make it even harder when they meet on Thursday.

Snakebite is without a win in three outings and has been battered 7-2 in his last two matches. His semi-final hopes are dwindling and his form is nowhere near his best.

Taylor, in contrast, has been playing brilliantly of late and tops the Betway Premier League table. He has not lost since week one and does not look like being toppled any time soon.

These two have had some very tight contests of late and drew when they met earlier in the competition, but we have to back The Power this time around; he is simply playing too well not to.

8/13 – Gary Anderson to beat Raymond van Barneveld

Gary Anderson and Raymond van Barneveld have been tough to predict this year, but the world champ has been the more impressive of the two and should be backed to win this week.

The Flying Scotsman is without a win in four, but despite this is still third in the table having drawn three of those – averaging three figures in each.

Barney kept his semi-final hopes alive with two big wins in his last two matches. However, he has not really looked that impressive for a while; his best performance coming in week one.

Anderson has won the last four between these two and should make it five on the spin here.

4/9 – Adrian Lewis to beat Robert Thornton

Robert Thornton has had a dreadful tournament and his a woeful record against Adrian Lewis is unlikely to get any better on Thursday night.

The Thorn is now set to finish eighth in the table; he may have avoided the ignominy of relegation, but it has still been a very disappointing campaign with just two wins.

Lewis is still in the top four and despite two defeats last week is on course to reach his first semi-final since 2011. The last nine meetings between these two have produced eight wins for Lewis and one draw – ‘Jackpot’ will surely win again.

11/2 – Michael van Gerwen v James Wade – Draw

James Wade keeps upsetting the odds and we should back him to do so again this week; picking up a draw against Michael van Gerwen.

MVG is in poor form of late – being held to disappointing draws against Anderson, Van Barneveld and Thornton.

On the other hand, Wade is just one point away from a top-four spot and holds the bragging rights over Van Gerwen, winning the last two against the world No. 1, so should be well placed to take a draw in Birmingham.

8/13 – Gary Anderson to beat Peter Wright

It should be a good night for Gary Anderson on Thursday as he can pick up a second win of the evening against Peter Wright.

Anderson should have the momentum to surge to another victory, should he see off Van Barneveld.

He has won five of his last six against Wright and looks a cut above at the moment. Their last meeting finished 7-5 to Anderson and we can expect the world champion to edge this one out again.
