Here are Adam Drury’s cricket tips for the third Test match at the Ageas Bowl, starting on Thursday.

Pakistan draw no bet

Pakistan were on top for long periods of the first Test, and look perfectly capable of winning at least one match in this series.

Their bowling attack was all over England’s top order at Old Trafford, and the hosts won’t be helped in that regard by the absence of Ben Stokes.

The rain could play a big part in this match, though, so it’s worth playing it safe with the draw no bet.

Joe Root to score 50+ in the first innings

Root seemed to find some form as he hit 42 in the second innings at Old Trafford, and the law of averages suggest that another half-century is on its way.

The England captain hasn’t gone two Test matches without a 50 since January 2019 – 17 matches ago.

Babar Azam to score 50+ in the first innings

Babar is on a phenomenal run of five consecutive first-innings 50s, including two centuries and a 97.

He has only failed to reach 50 in two of his last nine innings, so this seems an obvious bet.

England’s top first-innings bowler: James Anderson

Anderson had to deny rumours that he was considering retirement after the first Test and is worth backing to prove a few people wrong here.

It is worth waiting to see whether he makes England’s starting, but if he does then a record of 10 wickets in the three first innings prior to last week is good enough to get behind.

Man of the match: Babar Azam

It is worth extending your investment in Azam into this market.

He is near enough a banker for first innings runs, and a century would put him right in line for the man of the match award.
