Weekend football betting review 16 12 19

We review the betting data from this weekend's football, including the biggest underdogs, most-backed team and longest-priced goalscorer.

Bournemouth recorded the biggest upset of the weekend, winning 1-0 at Chelsea. Their pre-match average price was 10.35 (over 9/1).

The longest successful in-play bet also came in that game, with one customer backing Dan Gosling to open the scoring at 34.0 (33/1) after the match had kicked off.

The most-backed team of the weekend were West Ham, with more customers fancying Manuel Pellegrini’s side for victory at Southampton than any other.

With our ‘First Goal Wins’ offer, they were guaranteed a payout when Sebastien Haller scored the opener after 37 minutes.

There was one customer alive in 4 To Score after Haller, Lucas Moura and Mason Greenwood (after Everton scored from an own goal) netted first in their respective matches.

Unfortunately, that punter’s pick for Arsenal v Manchester City was Riyad Mahrez, who was left on the bench.

The longest-priced first goalscorer to be successfully backed was Teemu Pukki, with two customers backing him to score first away at Leicester at 9.0 (8/1).

How our tips got on

Our win-draw-win tips were disappointing on Saturday, with Portsmouth, Oxford and Scunthorpe falling short in the EFL.

RB Leipzig did beat Fortuna Dusseldorf 3-0 to claw back some profit.

We went some way to making up for it with our BTTS and mythbuster tips, though.

Southend v Rotherham (8/11) and Sunderland v Blackpool (10/11) both saw goals at both ends, while Sunderland failing to win the game saw a 31/40 tip land.

Barcelona being held 2-2 by Real Sociedad also meant an 11/10 winner.

Adam Drury’s BTTS four-fold was just a Jack Grealish missed penalty away from landing, too.

We were one goal away from a few more winners on Sunday, but they ultimately fell short.

AC Milan’s failure to beat Sassuolo earned us an 11/8 winner, but BTTS at 4/6 in Wolves v Tottenham was all else there was to shout about.
