In a weekend of very few shocks, no team that was priced at odds-against managed a victory.
The longest-priced winners of the weekend were Crystal Palace, who were available at an average price of 1.92 (9/10) to beat Norwich.
Liverpool were the most-backed team of the weekend. More customers backed Jurgen Klopp’s side to win than any other at 1.35 (7/20), and were rewarded with a 1-0 victory at Sheffield United.
The longest winning in-play bet came in Sunday’s only Premier League match. One account backed Leicester to beat Newcastle 5-0 at 22/1 as the match was going on.
Leicester’s Ricardo Pereira was the longest-priced first goalscorer to be successfully backed. One customer backed Pereira to open the scoring for the Foxes at 16/1.
The longest-winning free bet of the weekend was a beauty. One customer included Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Man City in a 15-fold at over 1,750/1.
How our tips got on
It was a disappointing weekend for our tips.
On Saturday, our successful win-draw-win tips came at Goodison park, where Manchester City to beat Everton & under 3.5 goals landed at 6/4, and in Serie A, where Atalanta beat Sassuolo at 21/20.
BTTS landed in Cheltenham v Crewe at 8/11, but our only other successful tips was Habib Diallo to score for Metz v Toulouse at 6/5.
Our Sunday Betting Guide was over £180 in profit before this weekend, but things didn’t go our way this time around.
Leicester to win & BTTS wasn’t helped by Isaac Hayden’s first-half sending off, while Cagliari did lead Verona at half-time but couldn’t hold on.
BTTS landed in Marseille v Stade Rennes (4/5), but Roma and Porto discovered some defensive resilience to win their away games to nil.
Barnsley failed to hold onto their lead against Brentford, while Bologna were beaten 1-0 by Udinese.
The less said about our goalscorer tips the better, though Ezequiel Lavila did have four shots for Osasuna, so the logic behind that selection holds up.
