NBA betting tips: 4 picks and predictions for Friday 7th May

Jack Green makes his NBA predictions for Friday night's games, with four picks against the spread.

Miami Heat (-6) vs Minnesota Timberwolves {ODDS:728032387:1.90}

The Heat lost 127-112 to the Dallas Mavericks in their last game on Tuesday night, but they’ve still won seven of their last 10 contests and should rebound when they host Minnesota.

The Timberwolves have turned things around slightly over the past few weeks but remain 14th in the Western Conference with a 20-46 record and have lost their last two games.

Minnesota ranks 26th in the NBA in net rating and has gone 8-25 on the road this season, so this should be a very tough night even with Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro listed as questionable for the Heat.

Dallas Mavericks (-10) vs Cleveland Cavaliers {ODDS:728032637:1.90}

The Mavericks have climbed to fifth in the West with a run of eight wins in 10 games, with five of those wins coming by double digits.

They now take on the struggling Cavaliers, who are on an eight-game losing streak with four consecutive blowout losses of at least 16 points.

With several players confirmed to be out for this game including second-year point guard Darius Garland, it’s hard to see the Cavs turning their skid around any time soon.

Portland Trail Blazers (-8) vs Los Angeles Lakers {ODDS:728033611:1.90}

A run of seven defeats in 10 games has sent the Lakers plummeting down the Western Conference standings, and they’ll drop into the play-in tournament spots with a defeat against Portland.

With LeBron James sitting this contest with an injured ankle and Anthony Davis suffering back spasms against the Clippers on Wednesday, the Lakers continue to have major injury problems at this crucial point in the season.

The Trail Blazers just won five games in a six-game road trip, culminating in a 141-105 victory over the Cavaliers, and they should continue to roll when they return home here.

Sacramento Kings (+5) vs San Antonio Spurs {ODDS:728033357:1.87}

Sacramento’s push for a play-in spot continued with a 104-93 win over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday – its fourth win in a row.

The Kings have now won seven of their last 10 games and next host a San Antonio team that is on an opposite trajectory.

The Spurs have lost five consecutive games, the most recent of which was a 126-94 blowout against the Utah Jazz, and they’re currently in the middle of a gruelling stretch where eight out of nine games are on the road.
