Charlotte Hornets (-3.5) vs Minnesota Timberwolves
The Hornets lost to the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night, but they had won five of their previous seven games and are in the playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.
They should comfortably beat the Timberwolves, who are bottom of the West with a 6-19 record and have lost eight of their last 10.
Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns returned for Minnesota in the loss to the the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday night, but he faces a tough task in turning around a team that currently ranks last in the NBA in net rating.
San Antonio Spurs (+2) vs Atlanta Hawks
The Spurs are 14-11 this season and boast the fourth-best road record in the West, with seven wins from 10 games so far.
Expect them to notch another road win over the Hawks, who have lost four of their last five games.
Atlanta will be without injured point guard Rajon Rondo for Friday’s game, and its 6-7 home record and 4-6 record against Western Conference teams means it’s worth taking the points with the Spurs here.
New Orleans Pelicans (+3) vs Dallas Mavericks
The Pelicans look the team to back in this meeting of two of the biggest disappointments so far this season.
New Orleans lost to the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night but had previously won four in a row and six of its last eight.
While Dallas has won four of its last five, those four wins each came by a margin of six points or fewer. The Mavericks rank 22nd in net rating this season, while the Pelicans rank 15th.
Portland Trail Blazers (-3) vs Cleveland Cavaliers
Portland beat the East-leading Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night, and although fatigue may be an issue here the Trail Blazers should still triumph over the Cavaliers.
Cleveland has lost five games in a row – four by a margin of at least 18 points – and has only won two of its last 11 dating back to 24 January.
The Trail Blazers have won four of their last five to climb to fifth in the West after a slow start to the season.
